1. what kind of playlist, Winamp?
if so, if you have Norton Utlities, you can search for a recently deleted file with a *.m3u extension. Otherwise, I dunno.

4. If the songs are
still on your ipod you can copy them back to the computer with ipod access.

6. Are they still on the hard drive?
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 02:57 AM by Rabrrrrrr
if they are, then just rebuild the iTunes list (file --> add folder to library).

if they aren't on your harddrive, perhaps they are still in your recycle bin, and you can reclaim them from there.

p.s. - when asking technical questions, try offering all the relevant data in the very first, original note so that people don't have to keep plugging you for more information. The more complete the information you offer upfront will increase the speed of solution and will be less frustrating for everyone, and it makes everything run easier and faster, and shows to the people youa re asking for help that you respect them enough not to waste their time noodling around trying to find essential information before they can help you.

8. So what happened, exactly?
I can't believe that your iPod would destroy all the files on your harddrive so that they are utterly gone. Not saying it's not possible, it's an Apple product, so any kind of weird ass thing can happen.

Are you using a mac or a windows machine?

What exactly happened?

You might have to just reload all the files back onto your hard drive from all the CD-ROM backups you made, which I know you made because you are an intelligent person. Right?

9. windows
lemme explain. Remember when I was out last week. My computer got fucked up. I put a new song on the iPod today, and it basically overwrite all the songs I had. On backups, yes I have some of them on a CD.

10. So you're saying that the songs you had on the iPod
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 03:24 AM by Rabrrrrrr
no longer existed on the hard drive at all, even before this screwup of the iPod? So you're saying that it was the files on the iPod, not on the hard drive, that were overwritten, and that it those files (the ones on the iPod) that you have lost? So the iPod was your only copy of the songs? So then there wasn't a case or issue of the iPod writing over and/or deleting songs on your harddrive? Which then means that you had all your music stored on the iPod ONLY, except for some CD-ROM backups, and when you transferred this last file, it killed all the files on the iPod, which is to say, it killed every song you own except the ones backed up on CD-ROM?

Sorry to need to ask so many follow-up questions, but I want to make sure I'm clear since you are not very forthcoming with pertinent data.

If I'm right in regards to the above questions, then I can't help you - I don't know iPods, so I don't know if they have a file undelete option. If the iPod doesn't, then it looks like you're SOL.
