Wal-Mart is now subsidized by the prosthetic limb/digit industry.
Thanks, Wal-Mart for driving out every other local business that sells winter clothing, then running out of gloves, boots, and snow gear (in FEBRUARY in MINNESOTA!) and not restocking any of said items.

Nobody needs mittens after January, right? Nobody needs to retain their fingers or toes. We're all happy having them amputated and replaced with artificial parts. It will save us on mittens and boots in the long run.

Assmunch crapforbrains Wal-Mart.

1. Two words...well, three...

Mills Fleet Farm

Even though it's the "Man Mall," they have winter stuff for the girlies, too. It's on sale right now, so stock up for next Winter.

I love Mills Fleet Farm. It's the only store I need. I can get my bird seed, my jeans ($9.99/pair, 5-pocket, or $14.99, if you want heavier denim). I can get some shirts too. I can get my Carhardt work clothes that will last three generations. I can get some boots and some sandals. I can get lots of thick white socks. I can get my fishing tackle and my fishing license. I can get new tires for the car or the boat trailer. I can get some cookies. I can buy small appliances. I can buy tacky Christmas decorations. I can buy a boat. I can buy tacky novelty gifts for the entire family. I can buy a gun, or ammo for the ones I have already. I can buy a trailer hitch, a ball to go on it, and all the parts I might need for my boat trailer, too. I can buy some beef jerky and some deluxe mixed nuts in the 3 lb. tin. I can buy endless supplies of candy.

They even have clothing for girlies. However, unless you're under 12 or over 30, you might not find what you want there. The story goes that the woman who used to work at the Post Office near me said that her 14-year-old daughter was whining all the time about going to the mall and buying cool clothes. Post office lady told her that she could have an unlimited clothing budget at Mills Fleet Farm, but not at the mall. Daughter didn't go for it. The "Farm Girl" line of teen clothing doesn't make a big hit, apparently.

Go to Mills Fleet Farm and realize your dreams!

2. We don't have one of those anywhere near here.
If I want to drive 50 miles (round-trip), I can get mittens, but I feel like I shouldn't have to spend eight bucks on gas to get a five dollar pair of mittens!

5. Nevermind. I'm stuck on $4/gallon math.
Although it may well be that bad. Duluth has frigging loooong, steeeep hills with eight million stop signs.

4. Are you sure you live in Minnesota?
Well, you could try the nearest sporting goods store. They have lots of winter gloves and such. Or the feed store, if there's one of those somewhere. Walmart is seasonal. Each season, they sell next season's crap. Makes no sense at all.

Go to a store where men go. We won't put up with that kind of nonsense. Oh, yeah...Menards. They have gloves, too...you know, for people who work. Ace Hardware, too.

6. I did try our local hardware-ish store.. They're sold out.
I'm going to have to tell the 7-year-old that we'll have to wrap her fists in toilet paper and saran wrap.

:P

7. Try Minnesota Surplus and Outfitters
There are two stores in Duluth...both on W. Superior St., 218 and 1910.
