I am home alone ..... really alone
tonight in my 50 years

my son moved out today

to his new house

I knew it was coming....

I had a house with 8 people living here
and who ever showed up for dinner

and I mean every night I would cook extra
Sunday brunch ..... at least a dozen eggs

also we would leave our door unlocked to let any one who needed to
come and sleep on the couches
it was interesting :)

now

no one

me
and I have to lock my door..

fuck

I HATE THIS SHIT

although, now is the time for you to do all the things you've ever wanted. Buy a sports car, go to Europe, or get a tattoo. :)

35. Nope, I don't buy that
lonely is lonely and life is forever changed for you. I don't think comparing misery is fair.

I know exactly how you feel. I have 12 place settings of Christmas china and spend every other Christmas alone. I've got 16 place settings of my grandmother's china and no one to cook for. We go on because we have to. I hope someday that we both get a chance to have a house full of love again.

13. solitude is not loneliness
And being by yourself does not mean you're alone.

In fact, one of the things I really enjoyed about getting divorced was getting the whole damn house to myself, to do what I wanted to do whenever I wanted to do it. Now, I honestly can't think of living with another person again.

Hang in there.

I have a good friend from Montclair, so that is the only part of NJ I have seen.

Iza is good! Things are so crazy right now, I'll be graduating in June, so I'm applying for jobs -- but they are few and far between! So we have NO idea where we'll be living 6 months from now... :scared:

42. Aw, you're gonna be fine

Now there's room to meet more cool people, cook more wonderful meals and have some lost-in-nj time.

It's hard when they leave the nest, but I have one back home and my inner hermit is screaming sometimes. I want to write more but there are always people in and out so it's distracting to me. But very enjoyable, too. I understand why you would miss that "community."

Still, with this economy he'll be here a while, and he's been helping pay the bills (though now HE's been canned as well.)

Who am I kidding? I'll probably be sad and lonely for a while too when he and his girl get their own place.

44. Hug from a former Wayne resident
Hey lost-in-nj, I'm so sorry to hear that you are sad...

They DO come back. My older daughter moved with her boyfriend to an apartment about 20 miles away, and they come by almost every weekend to see us, do their laundry and hang out. This past Sunday she made dinner for us, along with buttered pasta for me because I've been ailing with gastritis.

I've started a tradition of High Tea. A lot of times when the girls and their boyfriends come over, we make lots of little sandwiches, scones and a big pot of tea.

Maybe once you've gotten over your initial sense of loss, you and your son can come up with some kind of special meal or tradition just for when he visits.

Maybe this is your time to keep your own company and see what develops from the silence. A year from now I bet things will be very different for you.

blessings,
LibE
