Kashi RECALL of some cookies and chewy granola bars
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 02:15 AM by sfpcjock
I've been eating the Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Chip cookies for a month and am fine, but I guess that they contain some peanut flour of unknown provenance. Here's the list:

story

Kashi™ TLC™ Chewy Granola Bars in Trail Mix and Honey Almond Flax varieties, 7.4 ounce box with a "Best If Used Before" date prior to September 19, 2009 and followed by the letters CD (SEP 19 2009 CD)

Kashi™ TLC™ Chewy Granola Bars Peanut Peanut Butter, 7.4 ounce box with a "Best If Used Before" date prior to August 8, 2009 and followed by the letters CD (AUG 08 2009 CD)

Kashi ™ TLC™ Chewy Cookies in Oatmeal Dark Chocolate, Happy Trail Mix and Oatmeal Raisin Flax varieties, 8.5 ounce box with a "Best If Used Before" date prior to July 30, 2009. -- These have a little peanut flour in them. We've eaten two boxes of of them this month and still breathing. Be safe.

These products were also included in some Club assortment and variety packs of Kashi™ TLC™ products.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to destroy the product. Consumers with questions or who would like a refund may contact the Kashi Consumer Response Center at 877-701-5868.

Consumers with questions or concerns about their health should contact their doctor.

If your question, comment, suggestion or concern cannot be addressed by e-mail, call Kashi 1-877-7GRAINS (Monday – Friday 8 AM – 7 PM EST).

Write us at Kashi Company, P.O. Box 8557, La Jolla, CA 92038

Hey, at least it's an American manufacturer this time!

1. that's strange
a week ago I went to the Kashi site to check and they said the TLC stuff was not involved in the recall because they do not purchase stuff from the supplier involved. So I ate my my TLC peanut bars and nothing happened.

2. They need to recall their Go Lean cereal, as well
I love that stuff, but good God in heaven does it make me fart. All day long. I don't know what they put in it--concentrated bean extract, compressed air, or something military-grade--but after one bowl of that stuff, my cheeks are guaranteed not to touch for 24 hours. I feel like an inverted air hockey game.

And I'm not the only person to complain about this, believe me.

Everyone's different with regard to gas. You might try raw oats, wheat germ, some Nabisco Shredded Wheat, walnuts and raisins. That's what I add to Go-Lean which doesn't bother me.

For me it's S&W black beans... OMG the original "colon blow". I don't have a problem with Kashi Go-Lean cereal and my 92 year old grandmother eats it, too. She even likes the Kashi Vive pro-biotic cereal. Neither of those cereals contains peanuts or peanut flour. Pay attention to the items that have actually been recalled:

5. Kraft is NOT recalling any products... e.g., Planters is OK
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 12:56 PM by sfpcjock
Just saw this:

Peanut Products Update

Kraft is NOT recalling any products in connection with the recent salmonella outbreak involving peanut products manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America’s (PCA), Blakely, GA, facility.

Neither we, nor our suppliers, purchase peanut products from the Blakely, GA, plant for use in Kraft products, including those sold in the U.S. or Canada under the Kraft, Nabisco and Planters brands.

Kraft's highest priority is the safety of our consumers, and we’re actively monitoring developments around the current recalls of peanut products. We are providing this information as suggested by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

For information about the PCA situation, your best source is the FDA website.

Consumers wishing to contact Kraft on this issue should call 800-308-1841.
