Teen Steals Car Races 4 Laps On Speedway
<snip>

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) -- A teenager stole a luxury sports car, barreled through a security gate at a motor speedway and then went four laps at 100 mph before he was arrested, police said.

Feliphe Ramos, 18, stole the 2004 Infiniti G35 worth more than $30,000 from a hospital construction site Wednesday after the driver left the keys in the ignition, police said. The driver had been lent the G35 by a dealership while his car was being repaired.

He sped past guards, crashed through a security gate and then began doing laps at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, home of NASCAR and Indy car races, police said.

After doing four laps, Ramos either lost control or stopped. Track workers held him until police arrived.

"He must have wanted to get on the track pretty bad," speedway president Curtis Gray said. "Nothing like that has ever happened here before."

Ramos was charged with grand theft auto, burglary, criminal mischief and reckless driving, and was being held Thursday on $17,500 bail.

1. I can testify to the speed of the Infiniti G35.
I take my ancient 1994 Infiniti to the dealer for service every now and again. They give me a free loaner. Last time it was a new G35. I got to drive it all weekend.

ZZZZZZZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's fast! :D

This guy's an idiot though. I hope he has fun in jail.

6. Yesterday was "drag racing day" or some
such nonsence at the state capital here. They had a bunch of dragsters, some NASCAR types - but what I was lusting after was this gorgeous red open-wheel Indy style car! I was so tempted to just hop (squeeze) in to see what it felt like. Oh, to get that baby on an open stretch of interstate!!!

7. Got a yellow flag, came into the pits
thanked Big Jim's Fence and Gate for making the race possible and Homestead Infiniti for making a good competitive race car.
