Klingon Sword Used in Two Colorado Springs Heists
http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_11625687

A man wielding a "Star Trek Klingon-type sword" robbed two Colorado Springs convenience stores early this morning, police said.

The first robbery happened at about 1:55 a.m. at a 7-Eleven at 145 N. Spruce St., Colorado Springs police said in an incident report. The second robbery happened at about 2:20 a.m. at a 7-Eleven store at 2407 N. Union Blvd.

Witnesses told police that a man wearing a black mask, black jacket and blue jeans entered the stores carrying a sword. The armed robber took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot from both stores, police said.

Officers searched the area but didn't find the robber or the weapon, which was described as a "bat'leth."

I don't want to implicate myself or anything here, but I must say... Qapla'!

1. Hmm. The miscreant sounds like he's got a load of bat'shit and didn't want to buy the prune juice.

Man, I like Trek too (up until TNG but that's not the point), but this is silly.

10. Only in the Springs, eh?
Okay, that's not true. it would probably happen in the People's Republic, too. I'm not sure I would know what to do if an angry person ran at me with a bat'leth, though I suppose I'd try to pull my mek'leth and surprise him. I don't know, though. It'd be a dicey situation.

12. I personally prefer the mek'leth.
Smaller, lighter, easier to sneak around... You can catch your opponents off-guard more often if you pull a hidden mek'leth on them as opposed to swinging a three-foot bat'leth as you approach.

13. But sneaking around is dishonorable.
A true Klingon warrior would stage a frontal assault on the 7-11, charge in with bat'leth whirling, and either leave victorious with the contents of the cash register, having bravely defeated it's minimum wage defender, or die honorably in combat in the attempt. Klingon warriors are not to dishonor themselves by behaving like Romulans! There is no room for sneak thieves in Sto'vo'kor.
