Does anybody know what a standard book deal would be for a first-time author of nonfiction?

Just out of curiosity as I think about the long-term, does anybody have any knowledge about this?

Better finish the book quick, while people are still buying books.

I realize that dissertations rarely get made into books these days, however. I'm just thinking out loud.

$20,000 advance, which includes expenses. Royalties are to paid against the advance.
