Review: The Electronic Cigarette
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 03:06 PM by Symarip
I've been using one the last few days. I'm ready to give the Lounge the tell all.

The Good: It looks, feels, and draws like the real thing. If you didn't know any better, the water/nicotine/glycerine mist is about as close to smoke as non-smoke gets. The smoke tastes pleasant and there is no after taste or smell. The cartridges are relatively cheap at 2 dollars. Oh, and I already am breathing better.

The Bad: The cartridges do not last long - maybe 3/4 of a day if you puff 4 or 5 times an hour. The device itself is fairly expensive (~80 to 100 bucks) and it needs to be recharged daily. The 'flavored' cartridges don't do shit. None of the above is approved by the FDA nor has any national organization recognized the e-cig as a true smoking cessation.

Blah blah blah. Here's the deal - the thing works. It's not cheap but neither are cigarettes. Yeah, it's experimental but the alternative for on-the-wagon off-the-wagon addicts like me is to light up a Camel Light and call it a day.

2. I just ordered a "kit", inspired by your post.
I had been thinking about it for a while, now that the cigarette tax is going up ANOTHER .61 cents a pack I felt it was time for a change. I have also been considering it for my own health but also & more important to me, the health of my dogs & cats. I feel like I am harming them if I smoke in the house. I have started stepping outside but it is cold out there!

BTW- they sell a 30ml bottle refill on Amazon.com for 19.95. I think they said it is the equivalent of 750 cigarettes. That's seven and a half cartons of cigarettes or 270 dollars worth of cigarettes if you pay 36.00 a carton. I sure hope I enjoy these e-cigs, I will save a TON of money & hopefully stop killing myself & harming my critters.

Thanks for the inspiration!

11. There's a ton
Here's what I learned. Try to find one with a seperate atomizer thus making it easier and cheaper to refill your cartridges. Mine is from a brand called 'Smoking Everywhere' but I know of four or five companies that are considered reputable.

Cheers.

12. Here is where I ordered mine.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=e+cigarettes&x=13&y=21

others have recommended this place;
http://www.puresmoker.com/

Order the bottle of "juice" to refill the cartridges. You are right, you really DO need to quit. We ALL do, it is really self destructive and a nasty habit.

5. Whatever works for you.
Good you are trying to quit. If this works then so what if the FDA hasn't approved it.
Keep it up.

8. It's pretty terrific
Funny story:

Yesterday, we had a meeting with everyone in the division. I purposely sat as far away from my boss as possible. About 15 minutes into her yapping, I pull out the e-cig and take the biggest puff possible. Her face went white, then red, and she screamed, ARE YOU FUCKING SMOKING IN MY MEETING.

Then I showed it to her and she nearly fell over laughing. She took a hit (she's an ex smoker). She was impressed.

23. This will all end in tears.
I've seen a lot of people talk about these and I can't help but suspect that there will come a day of reckoning in which empty cartridges will be torn asunder and licked to feed raging addictions.

9. I've never had success with nicotine replacement, because I am a stone junkie drug addict.
I had to get off the nicotine. I read a book called The Easy Way To Stop Smoking by Allen Carr, and after a 15-year, pack-a-day habit and many failed quit attempts, I quit with no pain, not much effort, and no replacements of any kind. I just stopped smoking one day and that was it.

And if anyone had told me anything like what I just told you, I would have told them to shut the fuck up, because that would NEVER work for me.

28. That's how I quit too- cold turkey. It is allegedly the "best" way,
though I can understand how it might not work for some.

I cheated a little and quit on day one of a 10-day vacation when I knew I would be busy and distracted and out of my routine. Still, it worked and I haven't had so much as a puff in 3+ years. I do still have occasional dreams where I am smoking and then I wake up VERY mad at myself... LOL.

16. I'd love to know about e-cigarettes
I've been looking into this. I am still unsure what to order exactly. I found a discussion board for e-cigar/e-cigarette/e-pipe users. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com from there I learned that Australia has put a ban on e-cigarettes because they couldn't collect tax on it since there's no tobacco in it! Unbelievable! I don't think USA would.

For years I smoked Ultra-Light Now brand, it has no taste and doesn't cause bad smell on clothes, etc. until they raised prices from 14.99 to 31.00 (now more than this) so I switched to Ultra Light Doral brand, but it smells bad on clothes, inside my home, in my hair. I just like to smoke though I don't inhale..I smoke just for oral sake and it relaxes me and I love to see smokes so e-cigarettes sound like an answer for me. No smell and same enjoyment, vapor instead of smoke. Medium to Light or no nicotine. Do they have different flavors. Do they smell good if you "smoke" something like clove?

More info. please :hi:

17. I ordered a deluxe kit last night
Comes with charger, extra cartridges, bottle of ejuice, usb charger and it's black. I want one that doesn't look like a cig so I won't get hassled if I use it while I'm shopping.

It's from ePuffer and I think it ships from Canada.

Hope it works for me.

20. In keeping everyone up to date
Edited on Sat Feb-07-09 10:09 AM by Symarip
I ordered liquid nicotine to insert into my used cartridges. The nicotine is supposed to last anywhere between a month to two months and set me back a whopping 15 bucks.

I also tried a friend's e-cig. Our's are both from the same company but they are different models. I now can say wholeheartedly the Smoking Everywhere gold edition (or 3.0) is the best e-cig I've tried. They go on ebay for 80 bucks.

Doing the math, you could potentially have 2 months of cigs for 100 bucks between the device and liquid smoke. That's still a grip cheaper than regular smoking. Well, for me it is.

29. Graywarrior, I've heard no smell
It isn't smoke; it's a vapor, so no smoke smell. Actually, my dentist told me I should try it. He bought a kit for his brother. I had never heard of e-cigarettes before he mentioned it.

Now there seems to be a whole lingo built around e-cigs. Vapping, analog (real cigs), etc. My kit is shipping from Canada and should be here in a week. I smoke B&H Deluxe Ultra Lights and looked up their nicotine content: 0.5mg so I got the light cartridges which are 0.6mg to try as that was the lowest offered, other than 0.0mg.
