I would like to STOP being so god-damn SELF-AWARE.

Do you know what I mean? Constantly watching myself, with a running inner commentary on what I see, feel, experience. And I can't stop THINKING.

Help!

You know that 25 Things FB thing? One of mine was wondering when I'll ever be able to stop self-analyzing and reflecting quite so much...

About changing the inner monologue: a therapist once told me to "change the tape." Now it would be "d'load a new MP3" or some such.

And what's nice is that there are places that are non-denominational, so you are not getting a particular sect's philosophy, yet are able to get a general philosophy that really helps put things in perspective.

But don't kick yourself for being so critical either.

Find that place where you can observe the behavior without acting upon your self-judgement. Watch it, then let it go with a simple "Oh."
It may mean that you observe yourself binge-eating or chain smoking, or some other activity that spawns self-loathing. But awareness and observation are the first steps toward being a happier person. They can help you figure out what triggers self-destuctive behavior so you can begin to avoid it.

That's my two cents anyway. Take it or leave it.
