I just found out my neighbor was killed in an accident.

I had read about it in the paper because the accident was right down the road from us, about a mile. I only knew him by his first name and he was the older half brother of a girl my kid plays with so they both had differant last names. Last night when I came home I could hear a crowd at their house and thought it was someone's birthday or another celebration because they always have a lot going on. It wasn't until I read the comments posted in the local paper this morning that I KNEW it was him. He was only 25 and his girlfriend was 18. I'd pass the roadside memorial not knowing it was for him. When I read the story, and look at the crash site, then I think something is wrong. I think the cops are lying. They said they weren't wearing seat belts but the family says they were. I think he might've swerved to avoid an animal but then again I read a little something about how a cop was chasing them because he was on a cell phone. I couldn't find the link to that story but it was in the San Francisco paper. I don't trust the cops where I live because they lie all the time. The young man wasn't drinking either. Something doesn't add up that's for sure. Anyway, I'm sad for the family and just feel rotten.

I am sorry for the families involved. My brother died in a car accident at 24.

Maybe, and I'm just guessing based on that strange story I couldn't find that the CHP was chasing him. Futhermore, the cops were on the scene right away. Plus, his family said they were wearing seatbelts and I know them not to be liars. Plus, the road was broad and the speed limit was 45 but the newspaper, based on cop's statement, says narrow road at 35mph. The cop would gain by not having to write up a report that said he was chasing the people in the car because the driver was on a cell phone. It just sounds like a really fishy story. About 2 years ago the cops shot and killed a teenager whom they cornered in a van and were slapping him around (his stepdad was hitting him too) and the teen hurt one of the cops poor little hand so the teen was shot about 8 times. The cops said the teen was threatening his little brother with a knife but the little boy was in the house. The cops here lie all the time and shoot mentally unstable people like fish in a barrel.

Sometimes his dog would get loose and he'd be running all over the place looking for him. I didn't know him as well as his younger siblings who played with my daughter, but they were a happy close family but really quite poor as many rural families in this area.
