What is a nice gift to give to a couple who have invited you over for dinner. I don't
feel like buying them wine. Any ideas? Fridge magnets?

9. Too cold for plants and flowers where I live right now. But coasters are a good idea.
Maybe I should do what my mother did and have a drawer full of gifts that I can just pick from when the occasion arrises. She worked full time and had 4 kids. That is how she gave gifts. My friends thought it was hillarious. I guess it is.

A WINNER. I'll give them one of my candles. Bean Pod candles come in all sorts of flavours and are made with soy oil. Very fragrant.

20. Careful with those -- not everyone likes scented candles.
Some people, including me, find a lot of those fragrances cloyingly stinky, and almost all of them make me sneeze. Be sure your friends don't have allergies...

Cats and candles don't always mix -- singed whiskers, candles knocked over, fires...

of the jar. I watch my cats closely with these soy candles. No problems so far.

43. Well since I already have it I'll take a change and give it to them. I know some people are really
sensitive. They used to make perfume out of 60 all natural ingredients. Now they make it out of 500 manufactured ingredients. No wonder people are so sensitive to it. Personally I no longer wear perfume out in public just because I know some people are really sensitive to it. I miss it but I know I'll run into someone with a sensitivity and I don't want to do that.

56. Thanks for doing that!
I didn't mean to dissuade you from the candles, I was just noting that just because someone has an animal, doesn't mean they don't have allergies.

Some candles don't bother me. In fact, I opted to keep a Yankee Swap xmas gift this year that was a scented soy candel. I haven't lit it yet but unlit, it has a lovely smell.

Sorry to have been such a crab in my earlier post. I hope they enjoy your unique housewarming gift. :hi:

PS - I didn't know that about the ingredients. Thanks for the info.

11. Depends on the couple.
My general standby is to visit the nunnery near my home and pick up a box of their delicious fudge. I'm guessing that there's not a Trappist abbey near you, but maybe there's something like that around you, like a local honey farm.

Failing that you could try baking them something. It might not be a lot, but it does show that you're appreciative of their hospitality.

45. I'm not bothered when other people are drinking. I just don't want to have to deal
with the grief of not drinking in my own home. Better that it all be outta sight outta mind. When I first quit this time I did keep a small bottle of wine in my fridge just to keep my resolve to be quit high. And it worked. I'd think of it every so often and have a little discussion about myself and how I can no longer drink. Now I'm over it and just don't want to be bothered.
