Can a cat's eyes change color? |
|
Widget has had green eyes his whole life. (He'll be 16 in March) I noticed today that they're turning more amber. There's hardly any green left. His eyes are cloudy due to cataracts but I didn't think that would affect his eye color.

2. I feel like my older cat is doing the same thing: black cat, formerly green |
|
eyes getting more of a yellow tinge (and more 'speckly'). I'll have to look at some old pictures, because the younger black cat has bright green eyes, so the perceived change might just be a comparison thing...

3. Widget's a black/tan/white tabby |

mostly black. His eyes used to be vivid green. I think it's age. I've never had a cat live this long before so it's new to me.

4. That can be a symptom of the corona virus |
|
80% of all cats have it so it's nothing much to worry about. It can cause FIP if his system is severely stressed, but just don't put him through many medical procedures over a two week period and he should remain healthy. My vet said that when cats have eyes that start to get an orange hue that's usually a sign that the corona virus is "shedding". It's on odd thing; detectable some months, and not at all detectable others. At any rate I wouldn't worry!

5. I don't know about over time, but |
|
Evie's eyes go from green to gold and back, so I'm sure it's possible. The same can happen in humans - my grandpa's eyes were almost yellow by the time he was 95.
