Tis my last day after three years in the place....

With an hour to go here at the CBC, I feel kind of, sad....

It's strange cause the last year and a bit has been pure hell. The direction of the newsroom has changed, quality has gone down the toilet. I was itching to leave, but I feel a sense of sadness now. I guess mainly cause I will miss the hum of a big city newsroom (Yes, I'm fully aware I'm moving to Beijing, but I understand newsrooms in China are dead quiet)and I will miss some of the amazing and talented people I've been privleged to work with and learn from during the last three years.

Getting here was a craeer goal, and when you meet a goal sooner than expected in life, it feels very strange to be leaving it behind having done it. There's the anxiety of if you did the best you could while there, wondering if you made the right choice, wondering if you can get hired back if the new gig goes rancid.

The next step of moving to China is becoming more and more real. Today I received papers stamped with big red stars. That reality is making me a little nervous. That is natural though....

Odd, I started February 6th, 2006.... three years to the day.

I hope you have a smooth transition. My son has been working in Nigeria for the past 4 months, and he's feeling a little burnt out. But this is where the work is now, so he's been home for 3 weeks, and is going back soon. Keep us posted and I wish you only the best. You are one of my favorites!
