Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 08:01 PM by malta blue
After I write off the house, the kid and the burglary - my income is less than 10k for 2008.

I suppose I am very thankful that I have a job, but damn, I feel so underpaid :banghead:

1. I hear you, MB.
My gross pay for 2008 was only 18583 and I took home 11,323 after taxes which looked good compared to the amount of the insurance premiums that were deducted.

I don't mind as long as we get by and aren't in debt, really. We try to keep it that way.

3. I have never felt so poor.
I know that I buy things that I don't need - mostly food things... don't NEED the manchego cheese - just want it.

I am scared. I know that soon I won't be able to do that. :(

2. I made the most money I've ever made last year
$55,845 gross. Taxable income was $42,785. I owed $129 to the federal government and that's the way I like it. I'd rather have as much money as possible through the year than pay more and get the refund at the end of the year.

4. I would just like the magic formula to come out even at filing time. In a 2 income
house that is difficult.

My husband earns a daily rate that if converted to annual puts him in a much higher withholding bracket, but because he has down time, sometimes lots..at the end of the year when we total everything up we end up in a lower overall tax bracket, thus getting back a hefty refund.

Yet I am afraid to change our W4s because that would be the year he works constantly and we would end up owing through all of our combined body orifices.

So I enjoy the big refund and it usually comes at a time when he has been home for a while so it is like an extra paycheck.

5. I know I will get a decent return, but I wish my numbers were better.
That's great about your job Droopy :pals: Trucking is hard on the mind, body and soul.

6. Rhythm's AGI for the year was $5,040
She was only working part-time, though; her hours were drastically cut at the beginning of last summer, and there are very few other jobs around that meet our needs (shifts compatible with our classes, within walking distance of home, etc.)
