Is an organic PB&J "unhealthy?"
I just made one with organic whole wheat bread, organic blueberry preserves, and freshly ground unsalted peanut butter.

:9 but is it fattening?

7. Anything in excessive quantities is fattening.
Burn more calories than you consume, and you won't store excess fat.

So, no, taken by itself, your sandwich is not "unhealthy." There's a good deal of fat in peanuts, of course, and it's not the type of healthy fat in something like almonds, but there's also a decent dose of protein in those peanuts.

9. No. The fat in peanut butter won't hurt your cholesterol, and it's nutritious.
Several studies have shown that eating nuts, even peanuts, actually lowers your cholesterol. If the blueberry preserves have no sweeteners, and the bread is 100% whole grain without any partially hydrogenated anything, then the only thing you have to worry about is how much of it you eat, and only because of the weight gain from the fat and the calories.

Peanuts are heart healthy, nutritious, full of usable vegetable protein, and full of plant-based fats that your body and brain needs. Whole grains are high in protein, fiber, and vitamins. Blueberries are mega-nutritious, although probably the best you can hope for with preserves is that it won't hurt you.

Aside from weight gain, the only types of fats that will hurt you are animal-based fats, and maybe some of the heaviest oils, like palm or coconut oil (and even that's debated). The fat from nuts and vegetables is not unhealthy.

The sandwhich in itself is healthy, even beneficial. :thumbsup:

the stuff with all the oil on top, and you have to stir it up to make it edible?

I'm not a peanut butter eater, but if I was going to eat it, I think I would stick with Peter Pan or Skippy.
