My six-string is no longer in hock. I'm not holding in what used to make it talk so tough.

Had to do the deed in June, and my camera followed a month later. The other day, I got a letter saying that my camera would be sold if I didn't buy it back within two weeks. The only thing that scared me about that is that I hadn't gotten a similar letter about the guitar. What if they'd already sold it after sending me a letter I never got, or worse, overlooked?

I entered the pawn shop today with both my tickets and a little trepidation. I looked around at the guitars they did have on sale and tried to take comfort in knowing I could always buy a replacement if the unthinkable had indeed happened. But the clerk didn't bat an eyelash--he took the tickets, rang up what I owed, and I walked out bearing a guitar case, a camera in a plain brown wrapper and a smile wide enough to put the Kool-Aid mascot to shame!

But it has a bright red strap.

As soon as my camera batteries recharge, I take a picture of it instead of using someone else's.
