4. My fave 3 bands:
1. New York Dolls
2. Rolling Stones
3. Hanoi Rocks

I like the stuff that doesn't wander too far from the Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis original formula for rock-n-roll. So many bands rock, so few roll. I gotta have the roll part.

21. Early or late Genesis?
With or without Peter Gabriel, or both?

I'm far more fond of early.

I even had an early vanity plate for a 59 Jaguar MkI sedan: "HOGWEED"!

:hi:

22. Early of course, although up until the Duke album it was pretty good stuff post-Gabriel.
Oh, and Pennsylvania (where I live) has a Department of Hogweed Eradication. Heracleum mantegazzianum is illegal to cultivate in the state and it practically takes a flame thrower to kill it. The song is a ballad based on fact, not mythology.

If you haven't found the European band "Musical Box", check out http://www.themusicalbox.net/ and look for an upcoming show. They hit the US about every two years so they should be here next fall or so. They are the only tribute band blessed by all current and former members. Three years ago I saw the Lamb tour - the entire thing, slides, costumes, everything. They use all vintage equipment (see exception noted below). A year ago I saw the Selling England tour - same deal, but the "Tony Banks" guy did have a small video display in and amongst the keyboard equipment.

They not only reproduce the entire tour as closely as possible, but the musicians LOOK like the original musicians. The Steve Hackett guy even uses a left-handed double-neck 12-string/base and all the foot-pedal base things.

So, in a nutshell, if you like that stuff, go see them. Some of the other audience members had seen the original tours and were amazed at how close they came to recreating them. It is like a time machine.

A flower?

38. Yup, best label of the 80s bar none.
Meat Puppets II

Black Flag- Damaged

Minutemen- Double Nickels on the Dime

Husker Du- Pick 'em- my fave is Flip Your Wig but most people like New Day Rising or Zen Arcade

These were the best records of the decade IMO along with with Let it Be, Appetite for Destruction and a few others.

Interesting definition of that term.

And hasn't Rage been defunct about 15 years?

32. I debated putting
U2 in the classic rock category but a band whose first album was in 1980 and is on modern radio stations for their album due this year doesn't belong in the same classic rock category with the Rolling Stones.

I saw Rage in concert last year, and their respective members are hardly defunct. Their sound is still influential and relevant.

43. That's the way it works.
That music will always be called "Modern Rock" by its adherents in the same way certain music is still called "New Wave"...even though that wave crashed sometime in the mid-80's.

Though really that could change depending on my mood. Fleetwood Mac and Van Halen, The Mars Volta... And that's just rock, not counting R&B, soul, funk, country, hip hop, jazz... One should not be limited.
