The University Counseling Center's appointment policy sucks!
To see someone, you have to call before 11 am, and they will schedule a time to call you back to do your phone intake and schedule your appointment, and hopefully you can get one for that day.

As someone who's dealing with some major depression and anxiety and who needs a lot to get motivated to do anything, much less finally getting some help about it, this seems cumbersome, esp. b/c I'm only on campus 2 days a week, and am occupied with mentoring and meetings most of the time I'm there.

Sigh. I'll call them tomorrow and see if I can schedule my intake call for Tuesday. Grrrr. I just want a referral to a Dr that can actually do something for me.

/whine over.

1. Can I make a nosy suggestion for ya?
First, for all the stuff you're dealing with.

Second, get this book: http://www.amazon.com/Feeling-Good-Handbook-David-Burns/dp/0452281326
Did wonders for Z in terms of dealing with his depression, and has for other people, as well (there was a DU thread about it back in... Sept., maybe?) He has an anxiety-oriented one, too.

I hope that you can get the help you need, dude!

2. That looks really interesting, thank you
I know you're not feeling well today, so  for you too!

I'm trying to keep it as drug-free as possible. I'm fine with anti-anxiety meds that I can take as needed, but I'm not up for a daily routine thing. Been there, done that, didn't like it much.

 You're the best.

:)

3. Yeah, same here...
The thing that finally made a noticeable difference in preventing my anxiety, not just treating it, was to stop eating wheat. Took a smart naturopathic doc to figure that one out!

I hear ya on avoiding the daily meds. I went that route, several times over, and it never really fixed things, just kinda damped them down. for you, too!
