Whitney Houston is trashed, and Jennifer Hudson is wearing a napkin for a bodice.

2. A Lot of Today's Country Musicians
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 08:19 PM by NashVegas
Would have been in Journey/Survivor/Saga in 1982, you know what I mean?

on edit: I want to clarify that to be limited to über-commercial, Music Row-type fare.

4. That Type Of Rock Is Pretty Dead
It's the province of 45 + year old men, which makes it very hard to market a new artist in the first place.

Remember when Shania Twain first came out? Nashville pretty much universally hated her, and one of the reasons was because of her producer-husband Mutt Lange and what it was opening the door to.

44. That's an undercurrent in country.
Kevin Sharp, Shelby Lynn, Rascal Flatts... Rascal Flats has made it popular again. Check out Darius Rucker (he's BLACK, fer chrisakes) and Jack Ingram.

Country music has always had several styles, from swing to twang to rock and roll beat. Conway Twitty was a rocker at first, and rockers like Elvis have always been big in country. And more than one country song has wound up as an R&B remake. I don't know the musical lingo to explain it, but with a slight shift of the voice and different instrumentation a lot of country songs make good R&B song, and vice versa. "Slow Hand" by both Conway Twitty and the Pointer Sisters comes to mind. "Tulsa Time" was recorded with little difference by Eric Clapton and Don Williams.

Agreed!

But if you watched some of the red carpet with Ryan Seacrest before
the show started, then I would have to say that the interview with
Paula Abdul went downhill really fast.lol

Paula Abdul was without a doubt either drunk or stoned.

39. Coldplay? Apparently Satriani had an army of warrant servers in L.A.

Coldplay will not be served by Satriani lawyers at Grammys

It would seem we can no longer relish the prospect of Chris Martin being issued with legal writs in the middle of his acceptance speech

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/feb/06/coldplay-joe-satriani-grammys

Joe Satriani's lawyers are no longer looking to pin down Coldplay at the Grammys this weekend – instead they hope the band brings home some awards.

"All of that has been averted now," said attorney Howard King, referring to yesterday's reports of process servers on the red carpet. "Coldplay have hired one of the finest entertainment firms in California, which is probably good for all."

Satriani is suing Coldplay for plagiarism, alleging that their song Viva La Vida borrows from his 2004 instrumental If I Could Fly. "Their new firm will have a keen understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the claims," King assured Music Radar, "and will counsel the band to come to a quick and fair resolution of the situation".

25. That was awful
I've never seen the Jonas Brothers perform before and I can't see why they're so popular. The boy bands when I was younger (Nsync and the Backstreet Boys) actually had catchy songs. The song the Jonas Brothers just sang wasn't at all catchy and they didn't even perform well (the one brother looked like he was having a seizure).
