Is wine supposed to *hiss* at you when you unscrew the cap?

My father-in-law makes his own wine. I just opened up the half gallon bottle he gave us recently.

We have had incidents before:
I discovered an empty bottle on top of my kitchen cabinet once. The cork (it had a cork) was lying beside the bottle. All of the liquid had evaporated
My wife's former sister-in-law had a bottle explode in the trunk of her car

He skips the part of the process that stops it from fermenting.

As we discussed this in front of my father-in-law he said frankly
"Oh, no. You shouldn't expose it to light or heat"

Safe to store that way? Not unless you're using champagne bottles that are made to handle that kind of stress.

- don't worry it is pretty hard to get over 12% alcohol with fermentation.:toast: gotta break out the still to raise it much higher.
