A conversation I had with a cabby this morning ...

I was talking to a cab driver this morning and we were talking about colonialism and his native land of Ethiopia.

I made a slip of the toungue and said that Ethiopia was lucky that they were never colonized.

He looked me straight in the eye and says, "Lucky? Hell no! We fight!" And he grinned at me and goes on with "I don't like this George Bush man. He thinks he can just walk into a country and take over without a fight! What a fool!".

I could have kissed him.

So I say to him, "I now Ethiopia has been a sovriegn nation for a hell of a long time, but how long really."

"Thirty five hundred years." he says, with an obvius touch of pride in his voice.

There is a man who understands his history. His nation faught the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, the French, the British and god only knows who else and won.

It makes me want to fight all the more. To help save MY nation from the imperialist bastards who are running the show right now.

Just thought I would share.

And no, I have no idea if his stats are correct or not and I'm not sure I care. So go ahead and argue his historical accuracy and prove that you missed the point.

they have been fighting each other recently.

The usual story that may well happen in the US, rich people with guns who make sure poor people stay poor.

Though that is still a rather broad statement, and there are different types of people there than just that.

As an artist I do not think I had seen such wonderful looking men. Elegant is the word that came to my mind every time I saw one and talked to them.
