Poll question: Do you fit the following two qualifiers:
1. You do not know who Kate Pierson is.
2. You are between the ages of 30 and 60.

I found out that a person I know, who is a striking image of Kate Pierson and is but 33 years old, has no clue who she is.

3. OK, I Googled that...
...and now realize that I was aware of her, but had no idea what her name was.

But then again, I never really get into musical groups enough to go out of my way to learn what each member's name is, anyway.

Without Googling or reading the other responses, wasn't she one of the girls in the B52s?

26. Quite.
Half their songs are eccentric and fun. The other half are, in a word, "sleazy".

"Funplex", their latest, has a refreshing tempo and creativity in music that I've not heard in years. But most of the song lyrics -- "ugh" indeed. Too heavy with outright sexual lingo, the most they've ever presented in any of their albums, and "Ultraviolet" should have been axed after the Larry Craig scandal because that's what people thought about after listening to it. :scared: Great music, but the lyrics... mixed bag and it depends on the song too. They're entitled to write what they want, but their past albums have a wider range of lyrical venues and not just s e x all the time. Maybe they're making a statement, and in the context of a marriage/partnership I'll go along with it, but it is not a neurosis to restrain love for one special person only. (their songs seem to be a little more "loose", shall we say.)

A mixed bag... a pity; they're geniuses with the actual music and when they don't get hanged up on saying they're not hung up on the "horizontal tango", their creativity shines. Their more serious-message themed songs are great too, but "Funplex" was too one-note. Or, rather, one-lyric. :(

27. Actually, to be perfectly frank...
...it's the SOUND of their music I don't care for. Just not my cup of tea. Their music always sounded to me like some weird mixture of broadway musical, soft rock, and music-hall singalong.

I don't think I could even recite more than a couple of lines of lyrics. Never paid that much attention to them.

25. I'm the right age range, and I knew the name, but couldn't place it.
It was a bit of a slap-the-forehead moment when I googled her. That said, I'm in my early 30s, so I'm kinda at the low end of your spectrum.

For years I was the only girl, so I sang the Kate part alone.

Now my daughter-in-law joins in...:)
