I'm studying "Death of a Salesman" in Lit
and one of the assignments was to do some research on the play. I've never read or seen it and everything I've found has hyped this thing up to be the theatrical equivalent of an orgasm, is it really that good?

3. My teacher has said that
the one with Brian Denehey (sp?) is the best one to come out in years, but can't seem to find any visual medium to show the class.

4. Dennehy recently
revived it on Broadway, but I don't know if it was ever filmed and released for the public.

10. I thought the consensus was that Lee J. Cobb gave the definitive...
portrayal of Willy Loman?

11. That's the DVD I found
in my post below.

It was a television production in 1966.

5. See if you can find this DVD
of Death of a Salesman

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000640TB/qid=1078520352/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-4812844-8686310?v=glance&s=dvd

Adapted for television by Arthur Miller himself.

Also, Jack Lemmon did Death of a Saleman for many years. Any production you can find with him in it is wonderful.

Death of A Saleman is truly a masterpiece.

It's a masterpiece.

And when you're through with that, read The Crucible. The movie is fabulous, too!

Jacob Weisberg.

On the other hand, IMHO, if you can get through a good live performance of Linda Loman's eulogy for her husband...

"Don't say he's a great man.
Willy Loman never made a lot of money.
His name was never in the paper.
He's not the finest character that ever lived.
But he's a human being, and a terrible thing is happening to him.
So attention must be paid.
He's not to be allowed to fall into his grave like an old dog.
Attention, attention must finally paid to such a person."

...with dry eyes, then you're an utter failure as a human being...

13. My 'Salesman' quote for Ronald Reagan and GW Bush
"Nobody dast blame this man. For a salesman, there is no rock bottom to the life. He don't put a bolt to a nut, he don't tell you the law or give you medicine. He's a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back - that's an earthquake. And then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you're finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory."
