In doing this, does the female gaze fetishize the female object to the same degree that the male gaze fetishizes it, making the process of fetishistic scopophilia ultimately a gender-neutral phenomenon? If so, does this gender-neutral gaze blend both male and female desires into a new feminine ideal: the powerful, sexy businesswoman (as presented in Ally McBeal and Sex and the City)?
