I only have landline for DSL. I got so sick of it I no longer have a phone plugged in. Now they can call all they want.

4. For creditors, all you have to do is notify them in writing not to contact you |
|
After that point, by law they can only contact you in very limited circumstances.

7. Do you have caller ID?? |
|
You'll still hear the phone, but at least you won't have to answer it.

10. Man, I remember those days unfondly. |
|
I finally declared Chapter 7 in 1998. I'm all done with it now. I'm MUCH better about managing my money now (although I make much more now too). I even was able to buy a house.
Sometimes you have to do what you gotta do and get the fresh start. I felt as though the weight of the world had been lifted off my shoulders. And the phone calls stopped. It was finally peaceful. Good luck.

11. Yes, I also went through those days when I was afraid to answer the phone. |
|
Three years ago, I finally had to file a chapter 13. I had two judgments and another creditor was garnishing my pay. So, I had not other choice. I could not file a Chapter 7 because I earned too much money. I was collecting social security and pay from a full-time job. I am paying over $600 a month to the court for the next 3 years.
