So we need to use a nebulizer for my two-year-old's illness

Twenty-four hours ago I thought a nebulizer was a kind of Warp Drive, but today I know that it's a handy device for aerosolizing medicines for deep delivery into the lungs. It's basically an expensive air compressor with a filter.

But why does it have to have a motor that sounds like a jackhammer in a garbage can full of blasting caps? I've heard machine gun fire that wasn't as loud as this damn thing. Hell, it's designed for indoor use only, so why not slap some kind of a muffler on the damn thing?

Its obviously designed to not work well so you have to go out and buy some more from teh evil pharmas! Don't you know, silly boy thats what I do in my lab all day? design poorly made medical devices to make you spend money..BWAHAHAHAHA!

We used the nebulizer at about 7:30. It's his third time through it (once at the ER and once at the pediatrician), so he finally calmed down a bit while it was going on. Even at his young age he's suspicious about inhaling strange vapors from a mysterious tube.
