Any premenopausal ladies ever experience
light-headedness and dizziness? I wonder if I'm having these instead of hot flashes. I usually get a once a month little vertigo that passes quickly, but this afternoon, I had a light headedness and it has really messed with my equaliberium(sp?) and made me think my lunch was too light or that I was experiencing low blood sugar, so I've been snacking!

1. I haven't noticed that but then
I'm not noticing many changes at 47. I'm expecting menopause to hit me like a ton of bricks some day.

You may want to mention this to your doctor and see what she would recommend you do.

2. It doesn't always hit ladies like a brick.
Everyone's different. I have had night sweats on and off for years. And I have certainly noticed that supplements and diet help me tremendously. SO does enuf sleep! Gotta have insurance first, but I'm certainly not going to go on any meds, they might prescribe, but I should get checked out.

3. I wouldn't go on meds either.
My mom really suffered with hot flashes and mood swings at the age I am now which is why I thought I'd go through a lot too.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't.

4. I think staying as healthy as possible is key to this...
My Mom, I remember her having some hot flashes....nothing too bad...but later she developed problems with her heart, but she had scarred tissue from scarlet fever as a child, plus she was a longtime smoker. I don't remember her ever taking a vitamin.

5. Not necessarily
I think it's very different for different people. I've had virtually no symptoms at all -- no mood swings, no hot flashes, no nothing. Maybe night sweats two or three times -- that's it, and maybe a little vaginal dryness. In fact, I keep finding myself wondering what all the fuss is about. However, I do know that it's awful for some people. Sometimes I wonder if there's any correlation between severity of symptoms in menstruation, and severity of symptoms in menopause. Menstruation was never any big deal for me either.

6. That is interesting.
I never had problems with my period beyond some cramps and being a bit irregular. No heavy bleeding or PMS.
I'm hoping I too can be one of the lucky ones.

7. Good question.
I sometimes had cramps, but after my daughter was born, nothing. My worst premenopausal symptom has been migraines, which are better with Magnesium, and I've had some real crying jags lately, mostly sad mood swings, but other than that...not too bad at all.

8. I read that women in Japan don't experience bad symptoms either
This makes me wonder if it's a diet thing.

11. I've often wondered about the correlation between menstruation and menopause.
My periods were as regular as clockwork and I could count on one hand the number of times that I had cramps. Menopause was not a big deal other than hot flashes for a few months. From comparing notes with friends, I had a very easy transition. I don't remember anyone mentioning vertigo as a menopausal symptom, however. I think that would be something you'd want to talk to a doctor about as it can be indicative of other, more serious conditions.
