I was taken by the mortar craters left from WWII, and pretty moved by the relative newness of most of the city (due to the extensive bombing) compared to, say, Amsterdam.

Staying in a hotel, I had the nice experience of being up late watching "the Last Waltz" with the host, I didn't speak German, he didn't speak English, but we both understood the movie and music and had some laughs!
