We came home to a baby llama ("cria") tonight! Holy Crap!

6. Funny story, Roon.

When we adopted these llamas in September, the owner told us that they'd been raised together, but because Oreo was intact, he'd been separated all that time. When Isabella and Oreo got to our property, they could not be separated, so we figured Isabella got pregnant the end of September. Since a llama's gestation period is 345 days, we were thinking we'd have a baby the first of September. Yikes! We were so totally not prepared!

I went out and removed some afterbirth from the cria's legs and face, lifted the tail and counted the holes. She's a girl! I put a dog coat on her. I think I'll name her Fresca -- or Tina (lol!).

This is a first for me. I went out and picked her up, put a dog coat on her. She's tall! When I can get her to stand up, she's up to my waist, about 42 inches from the ground.

11. Dude! I've got THREE llamas now. This morning I had TWO.

And I have TWO goats, Peter and Susie. And EIGHT cats, FOUR dogs, and EIGHT African cichlids. Oh, and ONE husband -- but he's a Luddite.
