He's really quite surly. You're stupid because if he lifted his pike and let you behind the counter you wouldn't be able to find any of the field books, plans or benchmarks you're looking for; you also wouldn't know of additional records that would supplement your research dummy.

Once you get to know him though, he's a great guy and really helps you out with his vast knowledge of almost every corner of Boston.

This isn't like Rocky boxing a bear - I'm serious this time.

Another part of this fantastical story I told Bi-Baby is about how I used to go down into the deep, dark albino lair quite often - some weeks 3+ times - and dealt with him more times than I could count. I usually went there for benchmarks and street layouts but he had many other records down there.

Anyhow, at some point I started doing utility research for some project in Boston which involved filling out premade forms of the locus which include City of Boston Street Lighting utilities. The form was made out to John and faxed off. I had done this several times but never heard back but this time he actually had records of street lighting plans and had them ready to be picked up.

I asked him where I could pick them up and he gave me specific directions through the maze of city hall down to the basement. It didn't dawn on me at the time but when I started following his directions I recognized that I was heading towards the records room. When I got there and saw that John was the albino I was shocked. He didn't sound albino on the phone.
