Mardi Gras floats causing traffic jams in New Orleans
this afternoon, going across the big bridge from the factory on the west bank to parade routes on the east bank. Let the good times roll.

2. I'm not sure My Friend
but the big ole wearhouse on the Westbank in Algiers is open to the public year round. Its quite an extensive operation and so far unaffected by the economy. Come on down and have a visit.

11. There probably is!
There's an annual Mardi Gras parade up in Madisonville, a small town on the north shore, where all of the floats, well, float. They're on boats on the Tchefuncte River.

6. Love the Endymion Parade
but too old and cantankerous to contend with the crowds anymore. My wife has a coworker who rides and she gets some of the loot without the hassle.

7. LOL... I'm not much on the parades anymore, myself....
Unless I have access to a balcony or house to watch it from (with a good supply of beer, and a bathroom that I don't have to stand in line for)...

8. We lived in Slidell
back in the 90's. We lived a block off the main Slidell parade route. Damn we were popular with that toilet thing being readily available. Ahh, the good ole days.

10. There is (or was in my day) a shop in the Quarter where you could buy the loot
on Decatur, if memory serves. A great big barrel of doubloons at five cents apiece, etc.

As for beads, I hoovered up my current supply from the surface of Bourbon St. and a few adjacent trash cans on my last visit in 'o6. :-)

5. And tomorrow, long queues around STD clinics will be the cause of traffic jams.

12. Awww, this made me really miss Mardi Gras!
I rode in Muses for the first four years and it was a blast. 600 women partying and throwing. Have a great time and don't miss Muses!

:hi:

13. I might be able to hazard a guess at what their theme might be this year
alas, Muses came after my "retroactive evacuation" from the city in the early '90s.

For those of you just joining us, Muses' signature "throw", on a par with the famed Zulu coconut, is -- a shoe. Yes, a hand-decorated women's shoe.

And so, shoe... throw... 2009... "Are you pondering what I'm pondering?" :-)

14. I hadn't even thought of that. I am sure that it will make it's way into the parade
this year.
