A good friend- actually, one of my first work clients, just called me. His wife passed away in her sleep some time this morning.
R.I.P., Carol Tober. She had been ill for a long time and had been bed-ridden since I met them- say six years or so. I long since stopped thinking of them as clients and thought of them only as friends. I rarely charged them for the work I did for them- Ed and Carol were on a fixed income and had little extra money.
I saw them about two weeks ago- he wanted me to install a TV converter box in her bedroom so she could continue watching her soaps. In fact, he called me a couple days ago to tell me it was working great.
He's alone now, and I heard it in his voice- I don't believe it will be long before he rejoins his wife. He had a heart attack last year, and isn't in the best of health. Besides, with some people you simply know.
I posted another thread about them a while back, and I wish to link to it in her memory.
