For a couple of reasons. The deliberate impairment, for one thing, while they're wearing them. But mostly, the long term health effects. Ask any othopedist or foot doctor what keeps them in business. I also love to torture women in heels with the details of my mother's surgery to remove neuromas in both feet, caused by wearing heels as a young woman. It's a pretty gruesome surgery.
