1. The ignorance of many computer users is frustrating.
I know some Mac users who are just as bad.

And I've got Macs.

3. I'll agree with that.
At my college, there are tons of students with macs that have absolutely no idea how to use them, and only got them because macs are cool.

2. Tell me about it. I've used Windows for 10 years ...never had a Virus...
..Mal-ware or any problems other than Hp Printers :puke:

On the other hand..if everybody took "Care" of their Computer, I'd be out of work... :)

5. Haha, my mom had to take her computer in to Best Buy
because she got that spyware on hers that makes the computer think it is an anti-spyware program. I wasn't home to fix it for her, so she ended up spending $300 to fix it. She should've just sold her computer and gotten a mac. :P

9. No platform is immune and the cheapest Mac is $800...
Long term costs, especially if you're into 3D design or are security conscious and are prone to falling into these sorts of attacks, Macs will ultimately pay for themselves.

I've thought about the Mac myself, even with the price. One piece of MS software (not the OS, for once) has me so mad I've thought about just making the change and being done with it. I'd rather Apple sell the OS on its own so I won't have to ditch my Intel processor, but that won't ever happen and the Xeons are pretty good too.

4. Well, your lack of details makes ignorance inevitable.
:P

Please elaborate.

(I'm not saying you don't have a point, but with no reference point in which to engage deliberation...)

8. And the pontificating by...
Linux users is boring as dry shit.

Now that Windoze can be used for productive work without crashing, Linux geeks are still spending more time tinkering with the system, downloading and fooling around with new distros and desktops, and trying to find real applications and drivers than actually doing work.

And, after all that, they end up using Wine or some other hack to use the Windows apps they need to get real work done.

11. If toned up, and WINE made better, Linux would be viable... why?
No !*@&#^$%ing registry to f around with. No OS to !*&@&$#$ up the rather delicate registry...

Some programs run faster under WINE than they do native Windows.

I'd love to do Linux again except Adobe CS4 apps (and my PCIe Creative Labs X-Fi sound card) won't run under SuSE, the distro I want to use. I should try Fedora...

12. I'll admit to an ignorance about how computers work
I can use the things but I don't understand what people who know what they're doing with them are talking about. I've tried having people teach me a little bit but I've almost immediately gotten lost. I will gladly pay someone to clean up the messes I make and I hope they spend more time just doing it and earning their money than they do laughing at my ignorance.

In return, if they would like something other than money, I will gladly train their horse, clean their carburetor, tune up their snowmobile, bale their hay, sew them a quilt, draft a legal document or bake a loaf of fresh bread.

Everyone's got different talents. Computers aren't one of mine.
