Poll question: Boogie Oogie Oogie
Vaguely creeped out at this point. The restaurant where we just ate dinner pipes an apparently disco radio station over the p.a. (we *are* in the gay village borough, so nothing weird there). My question is this: when Boogie Oogie Oogie started playing, the scariest thing was:

1. Boogie Oogie Oogie is the song that broke Rhythm's stereo
You'll have to ask her about the details, though, 'cause I can't remember.

4. k then, i'll tell ya...
I had an old Soundesign rack system when i was in my early 20's -- had purchased it years before. It was one of the ones with 3' high
speakers, AM/FM radio, dual cassette decks, and a turntable on top. It looked kinda like this:

i happened upon a stack of my old vinyl in my mom's storage building, and brought them home. In amongst the MeatLoaf, KISS, Alice Cooper, and David Bowie stuff, there was a K-Tel disco compilation album, and on a lark i put it on the turntable.

It played fine for the first couple of tracks, but when it got to "Boogie Oogie Oogie", it just wouldn't boogie no more. I suspect the belt on the turntable broke, but the design of it made it almost impossible to get underneath it to repair it.

I think my old Aiwa is still around here somewhere - and I bet it wouldn't play that track if asked either.

26. I thought it might have been that scratchy guitar solo in "Boogie" that did it in.
It's not the most beautiful guitar solo by any means, but it's definitely one of the most distinctive ones I've heard!

 Fortunately, we were already pretty stuffed by then, so dancing was pretty much right out.

28. What scares me is that some people, for the sake of some misplaced Dennis Leary faux-coolness
want to deny that they still love the song. If you like something, don't let the shallow simpletons make you self-conscious about it. They are just pretending they know more than you, anyway.:P

33. Why? Are you thinkin you're too cool to boogie??
I can't lie - I have this, and tons of other disco, on mp3. It coexists happily with the rest of the stuff I have and it's great for cardio :)

The sooner we begin the longer we've got to groove. Who doesn't love that as a life motto? :)
