sheltered, clothed, educated, and instilled with the notions of proper citizenship for this great country of ours. I think we're better at that than the Republicans.

I not only don't mind that my tax dollars might go to feed a homeless person in Florida, or provide health care for a child in Ohio, I'm actually PROUD of that. It means I have met, in some infinitesimal way, my obligations to my fellow citizens. Nobody does it by him or herself. We are a nation; that means we work together, or not at all... That is progressivism. It's also Christianity, by the way.

are generally nice people who pretty much want the sme things you do, and 2) an internet discussion board is pretty much the worst place to learn about any groups of people (the only place worse than a board populated by the group of interest is a board about that group). :)

Many of the things you have been told are generalizations. The Democratic Party ranges the gamut from A to Z when it comes to different issues. We generally don't believe the "gay people are awful" thing here on DU, but we disagree on just about everything else including how to punish "the bad guys in jail."

A lot of what you have been told about us is false. We are famous for disagreeing a lot inside the party and on DU. A quick read of the various forums on DU will prove that...easily.
