You should all be drunk by now...so it's CONFESSION time
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 09:20 PM by yvr girl
Tell us something you're ashamed to admit, but will let slip through liquor loosened fingers.

I got a DVD player for Christmas 2-3 years ago and it isn't hooked up yet, it's just sitting on top of my VCR. Actually most of my Christmas presents from the last few years are still in the bags I brought them home in.

How could I forget this...

I haven't listened to my voice mail in almost two years. I don't answer my phone either. Let's say I'm a little hard to get in touch with.

But I'll play...

I've got all these great books on how to write poetry...

I haven't read most of them, and they're just sitting here to my immediate left, accusing me!

Damn.

62. I can top that.
Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July, and I'd just hit town and my throat was dry. I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew. At an old saloon on a street of mud, there at a table, dealing stud, sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue."

You don't want to know what happened from there.

time when I was younger which prompted him to put his initials on every one (his initials are SH). I do not even feel guilty about making the "SH" look like this:

S H
H E
I A
T D

I do however feel a little ashamed that I let my brother take the rap for it...

67. I googlestalk people all the time.
Once, I googled this girl I have a crush on (who barely knows I exist), and found this article about her.

Then I realized I didn't want to date her because I'd really rather not meet her parents.

They seem, um, like they're living through their child? Girl in question is transgendered (MTF), but her parents are absolutely insisting on having naturally-conceived grandchildren. Thus, she's not having surgery or taking hormones, so she can have a kid one day and make her parents happy. That, and they don't accept the fact that she's trans at all.

She's really lovely and smart and unique, but I'd rather not go through the whole meeting the parents thing.

I should not know any of this.

83. “Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful.
What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?”

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.”

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.

“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”

“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby.

But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are REAL you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

78. I'm fascinated by Bigfoot (Sasquatch), and always have been...
Thankfully, I'm not terrified about the subject as I used to be when I was a kid. My dad grew up in Eastern Washington and as a tribal member had a large chunk of land on the reservation (way out in the middle of nowhere, but edging the Columbia River - the beach and land breathtakingly beautiful, but STILL out in the middle of nowhere). I remember camping there, and when I wasn't swimming, I'd be looking around, frightened, positive that Bigfoot was just beyond the trees or behind the fallen log...

We spent the night on the beach - in sleeping bags - ONLY. No tent, no nothing. We were just lined up in a row, my brother and I (being the children in the group) were put in the middle, between the adults, and I don't remember ever being more scared. There was just enough moonlight to make all the driftwood (we're talking full-sized trees, not little 1-2 foot twigs, and large twisting branches) stand out starkly against the moonlit sand of the beach.

I'm not sure if it was during that same camping trip, (but it may have been) we decided to have a picnic away from the beach - basically in a small clearing surrounded by a more dense crop of tall trees and bushes. This made NO sense to me, but being a kid I didn't have an equal vote on the situation. I can still see the sunlight on the bushes, the breeze moving them slightly, and being SURE we were being watched... man, I'm getting scared just remembering this. I guess you had to be there. It doesn't sound like it's coming across as being very scary as I write it. The only other thing I remember about that picnic was the meal. My dad had made bear stew, and to this day, I can still recall how absolutely fantastic it was. He was such a good cook. And I wasn't too keen on eating bear, but this was just heavenly.

My dad grew up hearing stories about Bigfoot, and even recounted his own sighting. When he was a boy, he came across a very hairy individual crouching by a stream, either washing or drinking. The only thing that makes my father's story somewhat unique is that he described this individual ("creature" seems inappropriately sensational to me) was that he was very old and his hair/fur was mostly grey with some white as well. I'm sure there are other "elderly" descriptions out there, but I haven't heard or read about them - then again, I don't spend a huge amount of time on this - but it is a guilty pleasure).

Anyway, now that I've gone from fear to fascination, I find myself with what I think is a reasonable amount of healthy skepticism, but I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want this thing to exist. I would just be thrilled if that were the case. I'm not entirely sure why, but I am adamant anyway.

I love reading about sightings, theories, explanations, criticisms... I just think it's just great good fun. But my intellectual side is somewhat embarrassed about it - and I'm not really sure why that is either. Perhaps because the subject is such a mystery and lacks empirical proof.

I just love it. Don't know why.

Oh, and I still like candy even though I'm (supposedly) an adult - at least chronologically speaking anyway. I love sour/powdery candy... like Smarties or Sweetarts (sp?). I feel silly, but it's the truth! : )

80. Since I AM drunk at the moment:
1. I am absofuckinglutely insatiable.

2. I'm really behind at organizing photos.

Other than that, I'm a painfully dull, sane, drama free, upstanding citizen.

86. This isn't really a confession but more a depressing observation:
Jake: Married the girl right after me.
Evil John: Ditched me for this chick he met on the internet, who he married.
Dave: I broke up with him and he was married six months later.
Dave II: I broke up with him and he is still with the same girlfriend he was with right after me.
Dave III: I broke up with him and he was married within a year.

:banghead:
