1. I have nothing against Whitney H except...
Her cover of I Will Always Love You is such a horror that nothing can ever forgive her for it. And it's made all the worse by the fact that it's become a standard in karaoke bars around the nation.

Damn you, Whitney. Damn you!

2. Dolly liked it ....
She said "She (Whitney) sang the shit out of that song".

Here's another great La Houston performance.

3. What else was she going to say, though?
The song had gone super-platinum by that time. If Dolly had complained about it, she'd have looked like Edda James griping about Beyonce.

For that matter, Dolly is a famously gracious person, so even if she'd hated it, we probably never would have known.

4. It's Etta James ... not Edda.

Dolly also presented Whitney with a Grammy when she won for "I Will Always Love You".

Yeah, La Whitney's version had the shit played out of it ... but sorry ... I loved it.

6. Doh. You know, I spelled it right and then 'corrected' it. What's up with that?
The other reason I hate the song is because it was attached to that execrable movie with that execrable actor.

5. Dolly laughed all the way to the BANK. Unlike Etta, Dolly WROTE that song...
I'm sure she made a pretty penny off of Ms. Houston's rendition.
