~health-related vibes needed~
Hello, I haven't been online for a while. In mid-January, I suffered a seizure and was rushed to the ER and was diagnosed with fist-sized grade 1 meningioma pressing on my brain. I've been healing up quite nicely physically, but emotionally, it has been a real rollercoaster ride.

On top of that, my husband has announced that he wants a divorce. We forewarned me that I will be presented with separation papers shortly.

My residence is in Raleigh, NC, but I was stricken while visiting in Maryland. Are there any DUers in the near the Rockville/Gaithersburg, MD area who could PM me for a possible get-together or to offer support during this crappy time in my life? :-(

5. Yes, I do have to concentrate on getting better.
And I am! :)

It's great to see hugs and online support, especially from names I recognize. I had my surgery around January 16 (had to watch inauguration in the hospital), so it's been a while since I've been online.

9. Hi Pool Hall Ace :)
I am not near you, but my little sister had the same experience about ten years ago when she was 25. she was watching tv and had a seizure. An MRI showed a meningioma. She had surgery at Mt. Sinai in NYC a month later. The surgery took a very long time and it was harder to remove than they thought because it was growing into the vein or artery that runs between the hemispheres of your brain. She lost the control of the right side of her body for a while and had inpatient and outpatient therapies. Now she is fully recovered and thriving. Her first husband (present at the time that this all occurred decided he couldn't handle all of this and left). She is remarried to her college sweetheart. They have a 1 1/2 year old beautiful baby boy and she just announced that she is pregnant again. She is on Topamax to control seizures. It took a while to find a medication that worked well for her in regards to seizure regulation. She said that there was a yahoo group that was helpful to her when she was recovering called meningioma mamas.
I just wanted to say hi and wish you luck in your recovery.

10. Wow, what is it with these guys.
I guess the marriage vows do not mean squat to them.

I am glad your sister is doing so well! Thanks for sharing her story, and telling me about the meningioma mamas!
