I am thinking of switching to Verizon mobile Internet- is 5gb per month enough?

I don't download movies or music right now, just use the web for surfing, e-mails & online trading. I am worried about the .45 cent per MB overage fee. Is 5 gigabytes of data enough?

1. There's a program you can download that will tell you

what you're transferring in data. I don't have the link. Maybe someone will post it.

I watched a youtube of Keith Olberman and did my usual surfing and I hit 50gb in just a week.

If you watch Youtube, Hulu, or other streaming video frequently, or if you download songs or movies off iTunes or torrents, then you will easily surpass 5gb.

5. I guess I am stuck with my satellite connection.

It's pretty lame that neither Sprint, AT&T or Verizon offer anything over 5gb plans. I have a 17 gb limit on my current provider. I just learned that Verizon no longer offers a thirty day free trial either! How could anyone buy it with any degree of confidence?

Without proactive downloading, you'll be fine.

But if you download anything (e.g. one Linux distro on DVD), you'll be cutting things close.

That's why I prefer DSL.
