Question about the movie "Slumdog Millionaire"
Was the actor Jamal got the autograph from and the host of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" one in the same?

I've asked family members and co-workers and they don't know the answer. Silly question, but I've been thinking about this ever since my husband and I saw the movie a few weeks ago. I'm trying to figure out what the significance of the "famous actor" was in the movie if he wasn't the host of the tv show.

1. I don't remember them being the same.

If the actor and the game show host were the same, it seems like Jamal would have acted a little starstruck or something when he was on the show. I didn't get any hint of that. I could be totally wrong on this, but I didn't get any indication that these two men were the same person. But like you, I don't remember for sure.

But wasn't that a FANTASTIC movie? :hi:

4. What about when the actor returned to the slums, thus the autograph
Then, during the filming of the tv show, he whispered to Jamal that he was just like Jamal, from the slums. Why would a famous actor fly by helicopter to return to the slums, what is the significance of that, if any?

2. No. The actor that he got the autograph from was the subject of the first question.
I don't remember the name of the guy.

5. Okay,
Now I understand. All of his life experiences gave him the answers to his questions. I must have missed the first question because I was still confused as to why this kid was getting interregated.

7. the interrogation threw me for a brief loop, too.
and I don't know why the famous actor took a helicopter to the slums (but I'm still rooting for it to win, although Milk or Frost/Nixon wouldn't upset me).
