According to the Wikipedia...teaching and band coach for "The Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls" since Le Tigre went on hiatus last year. She also taught an art class at NYU's grad school in the Fall 2007 semester.

17. Cibo Matto's Miho Hattori in the spin-off group "Butter 08"...
...and the song "Butterfucker."

You can listen to the whole song (and the whole album) for free on Rhapsody:

http://www.rhapsody.com/butter-08/butter-08

Do the local disco
Butterfuck emotion
(C'mon over)
Do the local mambo
Butterfuck emotion
(Butter nation)

Hey
It's not abominable, it's subordination
(Do the local disco, butterfuck emotion)
And Mickey Mouse is just a little station
(Do the local mambo, butterfuck emotion)
So what's your line, what's your situation?
(Do the local cha-cha, butterfuck emotion)
You think it's real, but it's just a nation
(You have a bitter, butterfucking day now)

You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now

(Butterfucker)

(Butter)

Butterfucker, no better
Why should I get it now?
Butterfucker, no better
Why should I get it now?
Butterfucker, no better
Why should I get it now?
Butterfucker, butterfucker, butterfucker

You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now (butterfucker)
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now (butterfucker)
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now (butterfucker)
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it
You're gonna get it, you're gonna get it now (butterfucker)

This is the most amazing "Angy Chick" album ever.

It's not just filled with rightous indignation, psychogical regurgitation and crowing like Morrisette, but it's actually art.

It's absolutely amazing. My sister told me about it.

75. Frightwig
The first all angry chick band...Their first album,"Cat Farm Faboo" is a classic! The second, "Faster Frightwig, Kill, Kill!" is also good... ...I saw them open for L7 but unfortunately they were well past their prime...you can download the long OOP album here- http://tooshortalife.blogspot.com/2009/02/frightwig-cat-farm-faboo-lp-1984.html

I also definitely recommend for the hard rock side of stuff The Gits and Betty Blowtorch...

For quite witty and folky battle between the sexes stuff, try Uncle Bonsai, a Seattle group from the 80s!

Never listened to her music, but I read that her songs include a lot of broken relationship music.

85. Neko Case. She's not really that angry, but if you enjoy female singer/songwriters she's essential.
Her lyrics are haunting, introspective, and as a vocalist she's fearless. She pushes the edge with her formidable vocal talent.

She also surrounds herself with very talented musicians, either on tour or in the studio.

87. Lucinda Williams "Greenville" from Car Wheels on a Gravel Road
"Don't wanna see you again or hold your hand
Cause you don't really love me you're not my man
You're not my man oh you're not my man
Go back to Greenville just go on back to Greenville
You scream and shout and you make a scene
When you open your mouth you never say what you mean
Say what you mean oh say what you mean
Go back to Greenville just go on back to Greenville"

Lucinda is a oner and a lulu. I love her even through her brittle LA period.

Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 09:54 AM by old mark
and she is still out there playing.
"Bad Reputation" should make you smile.
She wrote it after being rejected by every major label, then forming her own label and taking her first release all the way up.
There is a lot of good stuff by Joan on youtube....

I'm a fan.
