Poll question: You go to the local C-Store. The convenient one by the exit, and the radio in the store...
...is set on righty radio loud enough for all to hear. It's Laura Ingraham in the AM and Rush midday. Do you......

1. Other: "Accidentally" hit the gas instead of the brakes....
"accidentally" taking out the radio while "miraculously" not injuring a single person (or pet).

Duh.

:P

3. I dunno, but when I went to a small town Bar
That was full of (crusty) drunken old men and which had Faux News blaring from the TV in the corner, I held my heaving innards quiet. Just long enough to hear them all talking about how full of it Hanity was and how the bastard(not my word choice) needed to shut the hell up and not criticize the president. A while later they switched to CNN. One drunken old man didn't catch it, and a while later asked why they left Faux on. Then they had a very inebriated conversation about how CNN used to be less biased. At which point the bartender gave it up and changed it to The Jerry Springer Show or some clone thereof.

5. If I boycotted every store that played right wing bullshit,
I would either starve or have to start hunting. If I was in a situation where I could though, I would boycott that store and let my friends know why.

16. You could come shop where i've worked...
The last few retailers i worked at (sporting goods, general grocery, and now a c-store) have all had a 'neutrality' perspective with regards to what's on the radio speakers within customer earshot.

This includes Sunday mornings, where the GM at the grocery store would change from the usual oldies/classic rock station (which played an assortment of church sermon broadcasts until noon) to the rock station's "Flashback" program... and not because he wasn't Christian himself, either. He just recognized that many of our customers were of other cultures/faiths, and didn't want them subject what amounted to unavoidable proselytizing while trying to simply shop for food.

7. If this was an action movie script like the A-team...
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 01:21 AM by Tom Kitten
I'd send my African American buddy (a younger Mr. T type) in first...if he gets treated properly, then the joker who runs the joint just gets wisecracks of the most sardonic variety...if not, then I unleash my weapons of quick death and commence to shoot up the joint taking care to not actually hurt anyone physically just make them duck for cover like they do in the movies as we make our getaway and then we shoot at the redneck conspiracy cops hot on our pursuit...Crashes and explosions galore! but no one really gets hurt...

(edit-spelling-duh!)

10. Write the FRANCHISE owner, not the store owner!!! Absolutely - That's just wrong.
Oh, you can also walk in while it is crowded, grab a bunch of stuff and set it on the counter and then, in a loud voice say, "Wait, I can't spend money at a place that plays HATE RADIO!" and walk out.

11. I voted that one, too.
However, just yesterday I was quite encouraged when visiting such an establishment to hear the radio playing KPFT, our local Liberal and Pacifica Network station. He had it on the news even, with just a few minutes before Democracy Now was to air the second time at 6pm :D I mentioned that I noticed it and we had a short conversation about how good the news was and the station in general.

I have to wonder what all the righties thought of hearing that being played just loud enough for all to hear when they came up to the register

..they always seem to think they can play that stuff, or display pix of the last 5 GOP Presidents, or trash talk liberals, with impunity.

14. yes this is now happening in the hallway of my son's gym lessons
The guard at the door listens to it. :eyes:

I keep meaning to complain (it's always set to Hannity, I think), but then I have to remember not everyone thinks the way that I do. (although most of the people who use this facility seem pretty progressive.) I just wish it weren't so loud. So I roll my eyes as I go by....

17. I would shop elsewhere.
I don't go to stores that openly support Republican views.

(With the exception of my cigar shop cause it is the only store that carries my Nat Sherman cigs and well it's a cigar shop kinda goes with the territory)

Direct obvious action is always the best plan.
