Guess What? Mr. Kittimus Prime is home!!!!
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 05:24 PM by WannaBeGrumpy

I got him home from the vet a little while ago.

He's looking around the apartment and walking all wobbly but seems pretty happy.

He keeps walking up to me and rubbing up against me and talking.

:)

i'm so happy

:D :woohoo:

1. How long has he been gone?
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 05:22 PM by GoddessOfGuinness
I'm glad he found his way back to you; but that wobbly-walking thing might be worth a trip to the vet...
He's got gorgeous eyes! :hug::hug::hug:

3. One of my kitties has had problems with that...
We have to limit his dry food and make sure he's always got fresh water.

I'm glad he's ok now!!

17. Question:
Did they offer you any prescription food? The latest hobo to move in here showed some early signs of urinary problems. It hadn't come to a blockage so the vet just suggested neutering (which I had planned to do anyway...I just had to get his course of vaccines and a booster settled into him before they would do that surgery)and he said if I wanted I could use Royal Canin SO dry food which is less likely to lead to crystal formation. I did get some of that but he still gets his regular wet food. I guess if the vet really thought it was a problem he could only eat the RC SO which would mean my other 4 cats would have to go on the same diet. I'm glad it hasn't come to that.

19. I was offered prescription food (HillsSD)
by one vet. The cat wouldn't eat it. He was fine for a number of years. Then we had someone petsit for us for a week, and the person only gave him dry food, in spite of our instructions.

The second vet I took him to said that the Hills stuff was a major rip-off. She said we should just make sure the bulk of his diet is canned food, and give him plenty of fresh water.

18. oops. I meant to pose that question to Wanna Be Grumpy
but I guess you too have an educated opinion on the matter. By the way the cat in question is a black and white whose history is very much parallel to your Fitz's. Mickey sprayed too, God help me, every where, including ON my sleeping body. But he has stopped now for the most part. I accomplished it by screeching (shock).

Fitz is great; but I'm sure he's wondering why I wouldn't let him "go to town" with Zeldy. He probably thinks I'm a homophobe.

41. btw..two of my boys are in love
In the beginning I thought it was a straight dominance thing, and I did intervene, but I don't think so any more. The one has a special call to summon up the other; they groom each other, cuddle together, and the relationship has been psychologically beneficial for both of them. Who am I to argue? One is always a top, the other always a bottom. There's nothing closer to sex than pantomime, but it seems to answer some need for both of them.

There may still be an element of pecking order involved (pun intended); but having had pets who grieved the loss of another, I'm sure you're right about their need for loving relationships.

You should post pics! :hi:

11. I thought I worried about my cats a lot more than I should.
It's good to know I'm not the only one who gets close to little critters. It feels so good when your vet trip turns up something totally treatable and you get to bring your best friend home alive. The relief I feel when I find out it's NOT something horrible that would take my babies away from me has to be a little taste of pure heaven. I always love those trips to the vet; the ones that give good news.

Money? I'll dig deeper and scrimp on groceries and work out a payment deal with the vet. I just want my babies treated, safe, and home with me ASAP.

My now deceased schnauzer, River, once had a lump the size of a small grape. He came home with an 8 inch scar and stitches that looked like ginormous black bows. He looked like he'd been cut in half and sown back together, but he never had another lump and the vet told me he explored to be extra sure.

My vet might cut like Dr. Frankenstein and have the bedside manner of the Frankenstein monster sometimes (toward us, not the animals), but he's a damn good vet.

Please tell Kittimus Prime I hope he gets well soon and I already know he knows he is loved.

so happy that he is being difficult and tried to eat my food.
without the bladder problem, he can jump and I'm trying to get him not to.
But the more I try, the more he jumps on things.
He's being a little brat, but a cute little brat

You will both be happier. He figures you are a softer touch today. What a smart kitty!! Ya gotta give him credit for that. My first black cat always used to check out my dinner & ask for what pleased him. It beats eating alone, I say. :D
