For Bluesbassman (and any other guitar enthusiast)
As promised:

I had Božo Podunavac make me a matching pair (6 and 12 string) in 2000.

Here they are, with some closeups of some parts of the 12 string:

I hope it never comes to a pinch, because giving up my Božo guitars or the shirt
off my back.....that choice would require some serious deliberations.......

2. Absolutely gorgeous!
I've only seen pictures of other examples of Podunavac's work, but I've never known somebody that owned one. They are truly stunning guitars. Unbelievable craftsmanship. They must be like heaven to play.

Thanks for posting their photos.:)

6. They sometimes need a bit of help
But, yes, usually they are heaven to play.

Curiously enough, although he is a recognized master guitar builder, Božo himself
does not know how to play the guitar. How's THAT for irony?

7. I had heard that about Božo. Neither did Leo Fender.
He was a radio repairman.

8. Maybe their position from the outside looking in helped
Božo came to America as a violin repair man.

3. Pearls before swine.
That would have to be one hell of a shirt.

That is some art. Looks like a sliver of something hanging off the pickguard in the last photo, though.

5. Lint or a reflection
They are pretty immaculate. I have those two parked at the house back in Dallas,
and they haven't traveled for 9 years. I keep a few here in Germany, and there
is one I bought used because some total idiot got bored with it. An airline (I
for get which) once destroyed it and cracked the neck, even in an old Mark Leaf
case. Guitars in those things have survived plane crashes where their owners were
killed (Jim Croce for one). I sent it down to Božo, and he made whole new neck for
it, even though he is now 80 years old, and works very little these days. I talked
to him about a month ago, and his doctor said he is so vulnerable to varnish fumes
that he was forbidden to finish his instruments from now on. He can do wood work,
but has to stay away from varnish.

I also have two vintage (mid 1960s) Guild 212-XL twelve strings (one here in Europe,
and one back in Dallas). Not as spectacular to look at at Božo's work, but they sound
perfectly angelic, and studio mikes LOVE them.
