2. Okay...
It's mysterious, meant to be autobiographical? A commentary on the biography of the person who commissioned it? Neither? Is there any story behind it at all?

7. I didn't see this
before I posted below.

"... not ready to share....." is bad use of language, but you mean that you're not telling.

So what was the point of posting the pictures and then complaining that you got no responses?

Your attitude is a whole lot more provocative than your art.

So, you've written a book? And you're going to use this piece as the cover art? Does your book contract give you the right to choose, because mine don't, and I've had great book contracts? How'd you manage that feat?

11. Wow, who peed in your cheerios today.
Was that really necessary?

She posted an artwork. And here you are criticizing her use of grammar.

13. Not grammar
I was pointing out the bad use of language. The word is not "share."

I don't eat Cheerios.

And what would be the reason for your post?

15. I think you were unnecessarily harsh to the OP and you owe her an apology.
Plain and simple.

If you did not like her "use of language" you could have simply chosen not to post, or hid the thread.

17. I think
your opinion is unnecessarily harsh, but I can let that go by.

Artists are used to critiques and criticism, so I suspect it's nothing new for the artist. I know I have survived good and bad reviews of my work.

So, according to your last line, only positive comments are allowed? I'm always entertained by people with high control needs who like to point out what someone else "could have" done.

I don't think so.

21. Only one I see with control issues is you.
You did not like how the OP expressed herself in her art and in this thread and you felt the need to criticize her about it.

I just pointed out that you were being unkind.

22. Actually,
if you'd read this thread, you'd have seen that I was among the first to say that I liked her art.

That makes everything you say kind of superfluous and inaccurate

Artists always take a risk in putting their art out there. That's why they're artists - not everyone likes what they do. If the poster didn't want to hear the truth about her art, she should not show it.

"Unkind" is hardly the word to describe "I like it," which is what I posted.

16. she is posting because she is a nice person and a friend
if you have an issue with my use of language, or my poor painting skillls, that is fine. Please refrain from calling out others who disagree with you.

19. Calling out?
Again, the use of language baffles me.

I was waiting for a response to my questions about how you got cover art approval for your book. The White Knight stuff is always kind of puzzling, but that's been dealt with elsewhere in this thread.

But, now, well, oh, dear, life does go on...............................

4. I like it
Why put it on the back of the bookcase - or is it a backstory?

5. very good question
the purple poly bookcase has a story unto itself.......but it didn't just involve me, so I wanted to make it more "mine" I think the backstory will be the cover of my book.....and the title as well "Even nice girls have a story"

6. So, why be coy?
If you want to tell the story of the project here, I'd be glad to hear it.

The game-playing, though, I'm not that curious.

Life is short.

8. not trying to be coy
if you see it that way fine.

I was sharing a piece of visual art, and that is what I wanted comments on......how it stood as a painting on its own. To tell you the truth I wasn't expecting so many questions. Life is short and this conversation is cutting into that precious time. I expect you feel the same way.

9. You've failed
If you "expect" people to "feel the same way" you do, you've already lost any audience you might have had.

The purpose of art, as I see it and as I believe it in my life as an artist, is to produce a work that creates things in people that might not have been there before. God forbid I produce something that mimics whatever I experienced while working on it.

Expectations are the walls that keep people in and keep people out. Too bad............................
