Update on my Dad:
Hey all,

I just talked to my brother. Soooo...Dad doesn't have pneumonia (long story, and I'm too tired to type it out). He does, however, have an infection of unknown origin. They thought it was from his catheter, as it always is, but no. On the scans, his gallbladder looks fucked up, but he has no symptoms of a gallbladder attack. Weird.

Anyway, as my Dad is immuno-suppressed and resistant to the vast majority of antibiotics, they are looking for the right combo. He's in ICU and resting comfortably. His blood pressure appears to be stable. Once he's more stable, if they haven't identified the source, they will go in and look at the gallbladder situation, possibly tomorrow.

Of course, as is normal for my Dad's health crises, anything could change at any moment. Welcome to my life. :P

So, tonight I will rest, and tomorrow my brother and I will see what they say and go from there. The Doctor was wonderful to my brother and spent a lot of time with him in the ICU, even drawing pictures for him to explain what was going on. It is a really good hospital.

That's all for now, I guess. :hi:

6. I know, right?
With the amount of experience I have with critical care/ICU staff, I was very happy to hear that. :)

9. Thanks for updating us, good to hear about him not having pneumonia. About his gallbladder
when i had mine removed it was bad, like almost bursting, i did have symptoms and some very bad attacks but for the month before i had it out i felt fine, symptom free. If it is gallbladder they can do so much easier now, mince was the big vertical but down th middle, now is just a few holes.

12. It was the same with me. Mine was really bad
when they found it--swollen and huge with infection, and mine actually *was* perforated just a tiny bit. I too had no real symptoms before the acute ones on the day they found it. I didn't even start running a fever until after I'd already been in the hospital for 3 days. I had to be in the hospital for the better part of a month with a drainage tube inserted, and on IV gorillacillin antibiotics, before they deemed it "safe" to go in and remove it.

14. Before my gallbladder had to come out, I had really weird, abnormal symptoms
I had weird back pain that felt muscular - this went on for a long time, like 2 1/2 years. I would have severe abdominal pain, not around the gall bladder area. Even though he doesn't show the typical symptoms, it could still be his gall bladder.

Whatever the case, I hope they figure it out!

Let's just hope that whatever combinations they find work and have few side effects.
