I got a summons for jury duty! |

Here's the thing. I'd LOVE to sit on a jury. I really would. Why? I'm a practicing lawyer, a litigator. There's not a chance in hell that I'll end up on a jury. I've done both plaintiff's and defense work. Neither side would be willing to take the risk. They'll burn a peremptory strike on me so fast it'd make your head spin. And I could actually be FAIR!!! I'd love to sit on a criminal case, too. But it won't happen. Same reason.
Bummer.

1. Other than having to miss work, I actually enjoyed be on a jury |
|
and being chosen as head juror, or whatever its called.

It was interesting. But I know one thing, as a professional biologist I will probably never get on a jury that has DNA evidence presented.

7. I go every two years like clockwork |

I never sit on a jury though. I'm either an alternate or get selected for something that settles. Just did it again the beginning of this month. I'll be back there in February 2011. I would also love to actually serve, but I am nothing but an official county seat warmer.
So much for their fair and equitable selection process.

10. I started getting called the minute I turned 18 |
|
and always manage to be an alternate, which is just no fun at all. Since I now have kids under 18, I'm allowed to not go, so I get a break for another 9 years...(i think).
