I just paid my car off.
And as much as i love my drop top beetle it is in a word---buggy. The good-it makes me smile when i look at it, it shifts nicely and on a sunny day with the top down it's a good time. The bad, numerous electrical problems to the point that i now carry jumper cables just in case, the car is 2007 and that just seems wrong, anyhow i'm paranoid that it won't start. The stereo has been replaced twice and lcd still has the same problem, the drivers side window also goes down when the mood hits it.

If my car is still around in 2 1/2 years and mechanically sound i'll be handing it off to my daughter and i don't think i'll be buying another vw.

1. Did a drunk guy ever put in a car battery backwards?
That's what caused LiV's VW electrical problems.

2. Best feeling in the world.. Car payments are the pits
Our son has the 1972 Super Beetle I bought.. I alwasy wanted a Bug when I was in High School(64-67), but never had the money to buy a car I wanted, so in 1996 I found a lovingly restored one, with a fantastic paint job & new interior...drove to Huntington Beach to buy it, and on the way home (on the freeway), I realized that they were not as much "fun" to drive as I had remembered..(My husband drove the Accord home)

so I gave it to my youngest son to drive when he was a senior in HS..(graduated in 97).. Most of his friends drove Beemers..escalades...Navigators, but his friends preferred Steve & his yellow Bug .. He still has it and still loves it:)

3. That feels so good doesn't it?
I paid off my car last June and I love my Celica and currently have no immediate plans to buy another.

6. it does, both cars are paid off now and still under warranty which is especially good for mine
seeing how many times i've it at the dealer. The dealer has been great, no complaints at all, whenever it's there they give me a loaner, the problem is the frequency that Morticia my beloved bug is in the shop and up on the lift.

5. That's why I stopped driving VWs. The quality has gone down the toilet signifcantly.
I wish I could tell you about all my stories of goofy electrical things, like driving at night in a rainstorm and the lights all going out, external and internal, and the windshield wipers out as well. The car of course kept driving along, just no electrical at all. Had it towed, and of course, everything worked fine the next day, until the next time that it happened, no rain needed, and again, and again. Dashboard indicators going off constantly for no reason. Ahhh, the VW days....

7. That's been the bulk of the problems, all electrical. Right before Christmas the alternator died.
it was under warranty but chrissakes the car is a 2007.

i was thinking off having the stereo system replaced but after all the problems i've decided it's not worth the risk.
