Listening to a song about death has never been so... uh, uplifting and dance-worthy?!!

1. "Blood in the streets of the town of New Haven..."
Isn't that where Morrison got arrested for indecent exposure? Maybe a bit of an over-the-top response, don't you think? :P

4. Oh, I'm sure there are plenty of places where he was nabbed for allegedly showing his white...

3. They made great music, but sometimes their lyrics were a bit... OTT...
And a topical reference; I thought the song was about war. Not his own petty diatribe for getting arrested because he chose to wander around with his willy saluting the sun at high noon...

Did I say "willy"? Whoops, I meant "white penis".

5. It is about war, but kind of free-associative as Jim was apt to do.
I don't really know what was up with all the bizarre mysticism in his lyrics, though he claimed it had something to do with seeing dead Indians (in a car accident) on the highway as a small child (and that incident is mentioned in this song, actually).

6. He was probably on drugs.
Or perhaps not; I can come up with some wacky stuff too... I suppose it's fortuitous I don't need chemical help...

Still, one of us died at a tragic young age due to a drug overdose. I'm a 36 year old geezer approaching 37 at warp speed and the other is swapping spiked fudge twinkie cakes with Elvis.

7. "Out here on the perimeter there are no stars!"
"Out here we are STONED! Immaculate!"

Yeah, you *think* he was on drugs when he wrote some of this stuff? :P

9. I read somewhere that some wingnut claimed
that this was an anti abortion song.
The interpretation of art is up to
the listener/ viewer.
